If art deals with the details and the big issues of life, it certainly deals with the topic of sex and sexuality in the broadest sense of the word. Throughout the whole of art history there have always been comments on, and depictions of, the erotic and all that has to do with the place of sex and sexuality in society and personal life.
Rated X would like to invite young (video) artists to submit video works wich deal with the subject matter of sex, sexuality and the erotic. For the "ARTS ON EROTICS PROGRAM" the Rated X crew will compile a one and a half hour program of video works to be shown on the big screen during the 2009 Rated X - Amsterdam Alternative Erotica Film Festival. Next to that there will be a limited amount of monitors for the presentation of videoworks on the festival location as the opportunity to present one full fledged video installation.
After the festival the "Rated X - Arts on Erotica" program will be representing Rated X on different erotica and regular film festivals around the world.
This is an open call to artists in every sense of the word, there are no restrictions on content. Whatever you feel to be up to par goes! It's important to keep in mind that the quality of the image should be as good as possible, since it might be projected on a big screen in a cinema setting. The same obviously goes for the quality of the sound.
